Light Art Vision is participating in the scientific research of Plant signalling.

 

Global hunger levels are rising in no small part due to climate change and weather-related disasters. Environment-friendly farming and season-independent growth of food plants are becoming more and more essential on our planet and on possible future missions to Mars or the Moon. With LED based horticulture lighting, energy efficient indoor farming is gaining popularity and expected to become increasingly automated.

 

 

By understanding the secret life of plants, the circle of flowering and germination of seeds can be shortened by manipulating light, temperature and water availability the right a way. More crops can be grown in time on the same amount of space. We are developing a sensor systems to measure secondary plant metabolism, which one day could help to optimize crops growth to fight global hunger and decrease climate affecting mono cultures. Maybe it could help colonies away from earth some day in the future.
